Context
Following the strong success of Virtual Donor Experiences (VDEs) during the pandemic, a VDE 2.0 Innovation Pilot was launched by a leading international humanitarian organisation to scale and systematise this high-impact, cost-efficient and climate-friendly engagement model.
The program aimed to expand VDEs across markets and income streams, reach new donor segments while strengthening the partnership experience and reduce reliance on in-person field visits while supporting long-term revenue growth targets.
Approach
- An online co-creation journey engaged more than 200 fundraisers across over 40 markets through five creative workshops analysing insights from early VDE implementation, identifying core pain points and generating more than 50 new scalable experience concepts.
- Concepts were clustered into immersive, gamified and self-guided formats, with three to four high-potential solutions prioritized for prototype development and accelerated through four focused online sessions.
Results
- More than 50 innovation concepts generated globally.
- Four priority solutions selected for development and prototyping.
- Engagement expanded to new donor segments.
- Quality, accessibility and scalability of VDEs significantly enhanced.
- Virtual Donor Experiences embedded into the global cultivation and recognition offering.
