Regional Alignment Initiative: Asia Pacific

    Context

In 2023, Matter partnered with the Asia Pacific Regional Office of an environmental No-Profit Organization to support a six-month strategic realignment initiative following a global mandate to shift toward a new operating model. The Regional Office engaged Matter to co-design and facilitate a participatory transition process that would prepare internal teams for the change while addressing emerging tensions and misalignments.

    Approach

The engagement included a series of five online workshops involving cross-functional teams from ten countries, the Regional Office, and focal points from the Global Office. These sessions were designed to surface blockers, build alignment, and reconnect teams to the unrealized value within the new model. A three-day in-person workshop in Hong Kong with the Senior Management Team provided space for deeper strategic conversation, integration, and forward planning. The process revealed that the core challenge was not just technical but also cultural—a need to reframe the transition as a source of opportunity rather than constraint.

    Results

The journey helped build shared understanding across regional and global teams, clarified key elements of the new operating model, and laid the groundwork for a more agile and purpose-driven structure. A final online reflection session was held in February 2024 to assess early outcomes and identify areas for continued improvement over the coming year.
