Context
In 2018, Matter organised a collaborative workshop in Milan, called the 1st WO+MEN SUMMIT. The summit brought together 50 participants to build a Transformation Roadmap for implementing a gender strategy aligned with business outcomes and Diversity & Inclusion priorities. The initiative aimed to strengthen gender balance, foster inclusion, and drive actionable change across the organization.
Approach
The program engaged participants in structured, interactive sessions that encouraged dialogue, reflection, and co-creation. Workshops included presentations of key messages from leaders, inspirational talks, and insights from external speakers. Participants completed pre-work exercises to inform discussions. Collaborative activities focused on assessing the current state of gender balance, identifying gaps, and defining actionable steps for both Group-level and Country-level strategies. Key outcomes were captured digitally, and progress was measured against agreed-upon KPIs.
Results
The summit produced actionable Transformation Roadmaps for both Group and Country levels, including concrete action plans and KPIs to monitor progress. It reinforced organizational commitment to achieving excellence in gender balance and generated a shared understanding of strategic priorities in Diversity & Inclusion. The digital archive and executive summary provided a foundation for continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and follow-up activities. Participants left with practical guidance to implement initiatives and promote gender inclusion across the organization, embedding these values into everyday business practices.
