Context
In 2018, a global luxury company launched a Safety Design Program to strengthen safety awareness and reinforce safety as a core organizational value. The initiative aimed to highlight how safety principles are embedded across corporate and production processes, encouraging employees to identify and prevent potential risks. At the same time, the program sought to build trust in the company’s commitment to protecting people, ensure systematic safety measures in critical activities, and promote continuous training aligned with legal and compliance requirements.
Approach
The program engaged a group of employees in a structured workshop designed to promote dialogue, learning and collective reflection on safety practices. Through facilitated discussions and collaborative activities, participants explored how safety is integrated into operational processes and how to better manage critical or potentially critical activities. Interactive sessions included brainstorming on next steps and a “Safety Thermometer” exercise, which allowed participants to assess and reassess their perception of safety awareness throughout the day.
Insights and key learning points were consolidated into a digital archive and an executive summary to support further training and knowledge sharing.
Results
The program generated valuable input for strengthening a widespread culture of safety within the organization, increasing awareness and sensitivity among employees toward safety-related issues. It provided practical guidance for managing critical situations in everyday operations and identified key training priorities for continuous improvement.
The resulting materials created a shared knowledge base that supports ongoing safety awareness and reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to protecting people and embedding safety into daily practices.
